I love how you speak from the heart.

I had to set a boundary with my sister and mother regarding thanksgiving. I didn’t want to RUSH the time with in laws and my side of family, so I asked to celebrate with my family on the day after thanksgiving to avoid running around on that day. It went well, and occasionally, we only attend my side of thanksgiving. It seems to work and I love not rushing.

  • Figuring out new holiday boundaries once married and again with kids is a big one!! My mom, bless her heart, loves tradition and when our family is together (me too!!!) BUT she has made it very clear that each of us grownup kids and our families need to do what works best for our families. Even when we do fall into tradition, that “permission” takes off pressure if we do want/need to switch things up! It allows us to have a laid back holiday instead of one with expectations and obligations.
